For applicants who need to make corrections to their UPSC ESE 2024 application forms, a correction window will be open from September 27 to October 3.

UPSC Registration, ESE 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Education Required: Applicants should have a bachelor degree in engineering (graduation in engineering). It is mandatory to apply for the examination.

Age Criteria: Candidates should be between 21 to 30 years as of January 1, 2024, to meet the eligibility criteria.

The application fee amounts for UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is Rs 200 for candidates across all categories except for female, SC, ST, and PwBD category candidates. These are exempt from paying any application fees and no application fees is required from these candidates.

The option to pay by cash will be deactivated at 11:59 PM on September 25. However, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-slip before deactivation may make the payment at an SBI Branch counter during banking hours on the closing date, which is until 6 PM on September 26, as mentioned in the official notice.

The selection process, recruitment process or hiring process for UPSC ESE consists of 3 stages –

  • Preliminary Examination: The selection process for the exam begins with the preliminary examination. Candidates who successfully clear this stage proceed to the next round.
  • Main Examination: Following the preliminary examination, candidates who qualify are eligible to participate in the main examination.
  • Interview Round: The final stage of the selection process involves an interview round. Candidates who perform well in the main examination are invited for this round, which plays a crucial role in the overall assessment.

The CDSE consists of two stages: written exam and interview.

Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE): This exam is conducted to select candidates for various medical posts in the central government departments and organizations.

The CMSE consists of two stages: computer-based test and personality test.

The UPSC also conducts exams for other services such as Indian Economic Service (IES), Indian Statistical Service (ISS), Combined Geo-Scientist Examination (CGE), Central Armed Police Forces Examination (CAPF), etc.
